The Rodon GroupOn Spec - On Time - On Budget - On Shore! K'NEX parts are manufactured in the USA! Ever wonder where and how K'NEX parts are made? Thanks to The Rodon Group, K'NEX manufactures all of its bricks, rods and connectors in the United States. Located just two miles from K'NEX in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, The Rodon Group was established in 1956, and is owned and operated by the Glickman family. If that name sounds familiar, it is - Joel Glickman invented the rod and connector building system that has been enriching the lives of families around the world for 18 years, and he currently serves as K'NEX Chairman and CEO! The Rodon Group is a state-of-the-art, custom injection molder of high precision plastic components with ISO (International Standards Organization) 9001:2008 Certification. ISO 9001 is an international standard that certifies a manufacturer has processes in place to ensure quality products. With over 106 high precision injection molding machines at its 125,000 square foot plant, The Rodon Group also manufactures components for the medical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, construction, building and point of purchase industries, as well as many others. It also manufactures custom fasteners, caps, plugs and much more. You can learn more about The Rodon Group at their company website. Rodon's Green InitiativesThe Rodon Group is committed to environmental sustainability. The company's green initiatives make it a leader in the plastics industry. Its manufacturing process minimizes packaging, transportation costs, waste, water consumption and energy. Consider this example: in manufacturing just one of the more than 600 unique K'NEX parts, The Rodon Group recycles enough cardboard to save 300 cubic yards of landfill space, the equivalent of three football fields! The resin and colorant used in all K'NEX products is child safe and meets all applicable toy safety rules, bans, regulations, and acts for the USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia. These include CPSIA, EU Toys Directive 2009/48/EC (which covers directives EN71 parts 1 -9, REACH, Rohs, etc), CHPA and ISO 8124. Since Rodon designs and builds their own tooling in-house, they have the ability to maximize the cavitations on the K'NEX tools (as well as the Rodon tools), use Mold-Flow analyses to artificially balance runners, therefore maximizing the through-put on each molding machine. Additionally, using servo-robots they incrementally stack many of the K'NEX parts, reducing part distortion, while tripling, or quadrupling the number of parts packed into the same size carton. This also helps in the sustainability initiative by reducing the amount of overall cardboard used!
