Building Help --> SOLAR 10 and SOLAR 20
To enhance the fun of K'NEX Solar Power, our team of building experts
came up with these additional tips.
Review the first few pages of your Solar instruction manual. Try the
Yellow Connector test on your Solar Equipment before you begin model construction.
Every model in the Solar 10 and Solar 20 set requires a 100-watt light bulb,
if sunlight is not your power source.
lampshades are required. Removing the lampshade from a bulb will lessen
the amount of light directed to the Panel.
The Solar Panel must be kept no more or no less than 7 1/2 inches (a
gray Rod length) away from the light bulb. At this distance, the Panel
should remain positioned within the boundaries of the lampshade.
If sunlight is your power source, the panel must be tilted towards the
bright sunshine. For best set-up, build and use the Panel stand as shown
in the instructions.
Models often require a tap to get them started.
Double check the direction of all gears built into models.
Balance is key to model performance. If a few parts are missed in model
construction, or are incorrectly positioned, the model may be too heavy
on one side for the motor to allow complete model rotation.
Check to see if the Tan Connector is locked into the Blue Gear on the
Motor Shaft (Orange Rod).
Make sure the parts on the motor shaft are not pushed too tightly against
the motor. They should move freely. If they do not, pull them away without
pulling the orange Rod off.
