2nd Annual K'NEX/Six Flags Roller Coaster Building Challenge!
Summer is over and kids are returning to school with stories of how they spent their vacations. Many of your students will talk with excitement about the thrill of riding the newest, fastest, tallest roller coaster at one of the various amusement parks in the area. Why not harness that excitement and start planning now to enter the 2nd Annual K'NEX/Six Flags Roller Coaster Building Challenge at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, NJ? Pick teams, choose a theme, challenge your students to create the coaster of their dreams, and let their imaginations run wild as they experiment with inclined planes, loops, curves, and more using K'NEX roller coaster building materials! Roller coaster designs and photos will need to be submitted by early April 2007. Only one design entry is allowed per school, but if you start working now, you can hold your very own school-wide competition to choose the most original, fantastic, gravity-defying K'NEX coaster!

Coasters will be judged at the Math & Science Days at Six Flags Great Adventure in April and May 2007. Three winners will be chosen based on the complexity of physics applications, originality, and theme. Each member of the winning teams will receive a free one-day Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park and Wild Safari ticket (up to 35 students per team) to be used during the 2007 operating season.
