Mr. Haines joined K'NEX in September 1998 as the company's Corporate Controller and was promoted to his most recent position, Vice President of Finance and CFO, in March 2001. In his new position, Mr. Haines is responsible for all treasury, cash management, financial budgeting, and credit functions. Prior to joining K'NEX, Haines served as Corporate Controller and Assistant Treasurer of Resco Products, Inc., where he was responsible for both the Accounting and Treasury functions. He developed and managed policies and procedures for financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and corporate-wide pricing guidelines of all products. Joseph (Joe) Smith has been named Senior Vice President of Product Development. Mr. Smith joined K'NEX in January 2001 and was quickly promoted to Director of Design, then to Vice President of Design in October 2004. During this time, Mr. Smith focused on broadening K'NEX product offerings while maintaining and nurturing the company's core focus. As SVP, Product Development, Mr. Smith is responsible for overseeing the product development function, including product design, engineering, instruction, and packaging design. A lifelong toy fan, Mr. Smith was a child toy tester for Kenner Toys in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he enrolled in Design school with the singular intention of learning how to design toys. Prior to joining K'NEX, Mr. Smith worked for the same Kenner Toys designing Nerf products. When Hasbro purchased Kenner, Smith expanded his design portfolio, working on such brands as Aliens, Littlest Pet Shop, R/C cars and Star Wars products. Lowell Allen has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. His responsibilities include management of the company's manufacturing arm, as well as the oversight of equipment purchases, hiring and training personnel, supply contracts, and 24/7 production on more than 100 machines. Mr. Allen began his career at The Rodon Group in 1972. One of the nation's largest privately held plastic injection-molding companies, the family-owned Rodon Group is now a division of K'NEX Industries. Mr. Allen achieved successive promotions at Rodon, becoming Plant Manager in the late '70s and Vice President of Manufacturing in 1999. With over 35 years of expertise in injection molding, robotics, and thermo plastics, Mr. Allen provides strong leadership and operates under a philosophy of quality and integrity.
