THE SCREAMIN' SERPENT ROLLER COASTER FROM K'NEX
K'NEX Announces New Growth Strategy and the Addition of LASERSTRIKE
and PUZZ3D Brands for 2003
HATFIELD, PA - February 16, 2003 --- The K'NEX SCREAMIN' SERPENT Roller Coaster from K'NEX Industries, one of the world's leading construction toy manufacturers, was the #1 toy in the construction category for 2002, according to the NPD Group's year-end TRSTS Report. This is the second consecutive year that this award winning K'NEX building set has achieved top sales within this segment of the toy industry.
The announcement of the SCREAMIN' SERPENT top sales ranking is the beginning of an exciting 2003 for K'NEX, as the company launches new products and product lines under their "Deeper, Broader, Younger" growth strategy.
DEEPER: With "Classic K'NEX", the sets that are the heart and soul of the K'NEX brand, kids in 2003 will be able to build bigger, with grander results, create more realistic models, with creations that come to life with movement and sound, and rebuild better, for creative expression that continues to amaze.
Prompted by the continued success and recognition of the SCREAMIN' SERPENT, in 2003 K'NEX will introduce its newest roller coaster, THE RIPPIN' ROCKET. Taller, longer, steeper, and with more gravity-defying action, the RIPPIN' ROCKET is sure to impress coaster fans! Other new products helping to expand the core K'NEX line include a musical and fun refresh of the classic K'NEX Ferris Wheel, as well as themed and multi-model building sets in storage tubs and carry-and-go cases.
BROADER: Quick-to-build and full of action defines new ReKonstructors, which rounds out the 2003 K'NEX product line. Boys 7 years and older will enjoy a quick build with long fantasy play action. A comic book storyline, which supports the product's theme of "One Battle, 3 Ways To Survive", is included with each ReKonstructors and helps bring the classic battle of good vs. evil to life as kids build - and rebuild - their figures.
YOUNGER: New for 2003 is KID K'NEX, designed especially for younger builders (kids ages 3-7 year) and featuring colorful, oversized building pieces to let little builders create and recreate fun, new playtime pals any way their imaginations please.
The three Kid K'NEX sets, Bug-Eyed Buddies, Footed Friends, and Rovin' Rollers, experienced a remarkable product launch last December and are now available at retail stores nationwide.
In addition to the new product line segmentation strategy and in the wake of
the highly successful acquisition of Lincoln Logs in 1999, K'NEX has established
two new strategic alliances for 2003:
