Presidents Message

Dear K’NEX friends and family,

The summer season is quickly approaching, which means we start adjusting to the ever-shifting schedules of our children, while attempting to maintain balance within our own lives...easier said than done, I know!

Whether our children are off to day camp or spending the summer at home, we, as parents are bound to hear “I’m bored!” at some point in the summer and it’s something we dread in my house. In addition to fun-filled family trips, my wife and I make sure we have a good amount of activities planned that are not only entertaining, but foster learning during the summer months, too.

Teachers, on average, spend four to eight weeks every fall reviewing and re-teaching math and reading skills that students have forgotten during the summer. Now, that doesn’t mean your children should spend endless summer days inside studying, but that we should do what we can to encourage our children to retain what they’ve worked so hard to learn. And I for one think that summer is the perfect time for children to discover that learning is fun and can happen anywhere!
