Question and Answer:
When did you start building with K'NEX?
When I was about 7 years old.
How did you come up with the idea for your winning model?
I believe I was in the car on the way to swim practice and it just hit me. We owned an original roller coaster kit and I knew that I wanted to use it. I had recently reconstructed my Serpents Spiral Coaster so I got the idea to use both types of roller coaster in a large combination. Also, I was pretty sure that K'NEX had never produced something like it and I felt that it could work well for creativity.
What has been your most challenging K'NEX creation?
Definitely the David and Goliath Coaster.
Do you have a favorite past K'NEXpert? If so, who?
Ian with the Chinese Imperial Dragon. I actually counted the years to make sure he wouldn't be competing against me. I also really liked Christian in 2002 with the battleship.
How many siblings do you have? What are their age(s) and gender(s)?
I have a 12 year old sister.
Do they build with K'NEX too? Do you build models together?
She used to but has gradually lost interest.
What are your favorite hobbies (besides building with K'NEX)?
I swim competitively. I also enjoy programing and robotics.
What is your favorite subject in school?
Science. I can't wait for chemistry my sophomore year and even more physics in my junior year.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be an engineer.
What is the coolest part about being a 2014 K'NEXpert?
Knowing that I did it. It's a huge accomplishment and I'm really proud. Plus, I can't wait to tour the factory.
What advice do you have for other kids who want to be a K'NEXpert?
Chase your dreams. Don't let what others have done intimidate you. Always be confident in what you've done and believe in yourself.
