Question and Answer: Winning Model: Solar Z 6000
I wanted to build a car like our mini-van. It took me three days to build this car. I build the Solar Z 6000. It has a solar panel on the top made of "bendy" K'NEX. The solar panel makes energy that runs the car. The car seats four people, has headlights and taillights and has a steering wheel. I used 380 regular-size K'NEX to build the Solar Z 6000. It was fun to make!

I started building with K'NEX when I was four years old.
What was your most challenging K'NEX creation?
My most challenging K'NEX creation was the Solar Z 6000.
Where did you come up with the idea for your winning model?
I wanted to build a car like our mini-van.

My favorite past K'NEXpert is Justin, my older brother, from 2006.

I have three brothers.

They are 12, 10 and 4 years old.

They all build with K'NEX.
Do you build models together?
The older ones build complex models and my little brother builds simple models. Sometimes we all build together.
What are your favorite hobbies (besides building with K'NEX)?
My favorite hobbies are all kinds of arts and crafts, painting, soccer, baseball, and hiking and geo-caching with my family.
What is your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school is math.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When I grow up, I want to be an artist, a coach, or an umpire.
What has been the coolest part about being a 2009 K'NEXpert?
The coolest part about being a 2009 K'NEXpert was going to New York for the award ceremony at Toys R Us in Times Square.
