Question and Answer:

When did you start building with K’NEX?
I think my first memory with K’NEX is when my parents didn't want me to have a toy gun and so I simply made one out of K’Nex using four pieces. A few days later I made a gun that could actually shoot. That was when I was 8. (My mom says there are still marks in our wall to prove it.)

How did you come up with the idea for your winning model?
One day I was watching videos on YouTube and thought, “That looks cool”. One of the places I get ideas is Instructables. It is a site that allows you to post some of your ideas and you can view other peoples ideas as well. Here is the link to the site: is a link to my page:

What has been your most challenging K'NEX creation?
Definitely my K’Nex ball machine, Leviathan. It is 9’ by 5’ by 7’ no clue how many pieces but let's go with a lot. I started building it December 2014 and finished in August. I have made bigger roller coasters but they were partly from instructions. Over all I've made some pretty big things. Here's my Zippy Zoom:

Do you have a favorite past K’NEXpert? If so, who?
Richard, 2015.

How many siblings do you have? What are their age(s) and gender(s)?
I have two little sisters one is 5 and one is 8. Do they build K’NEX too? Do you build models together?I often times will make them flowers or something. They love the bendy peaces because it doesn't mater how they put it together it just works. I like them because they don't brake and I don't have to worry about them braking my K’Nex. They are always trying to make something that I can put on my ball machine. I’ll have to show them how to make it work.

What are your favorite hobbies (besides building with K’NEX)?
I like building weapons out of office supplies and stuff I find around the house. I also enjoy extreme sports like snowboarding, dirt biking, pro scooting and BMX.

What is your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school is probably computer programing or math.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I one day hope to be an engineer and I think K’NEX are training me to build other stuff as well. Maybe one day I’ll build a roller coaster just like one of my K’NEX ones.

What is the coolest part about being a K’NEXpert?
The thing I’m most looking forward to as a K’NEXpert is the invitation to come to the K’NEX headquarters where we will be able to see how K’NEX are designed and made.

What advice do you have for other kids who want to be a K’NEXpert?
What really got me started was just seeing this amazing K’NEX ball machine at I knew I couldn't build something that awesome and big but I started with a small ball machine and then kept making it bigger and bigger when I got more pieces. So my advice to K’NEX builders is to never think something is too big for you to build. Even if you don't have enough pieces just improvise and make a smaller one.
