Question and Answer:

When did you start building with K'NEX?
I started building with KID K'NEX when I was 3 years old. My favorites were the KID K'NEX Undersea Pals and the Rockin Robots. At 4 yrs old, I started building with my brother's LightUp multi-model K'NEX set, building windmills, helicopters and swing sets that moved. I built my first roller coaster, the Junior Screamin' Serpent, when I was 5 yrs.

How did you come up with the idea for your winning model?
We went to Dutch Wonderland Amusement Park and we saw and rode the Sky Ride. I wanted to build one out of K'NEX because I didn't think anyone else had built one. I even rode a few other sky rides to see how they work.

What has been your most challenging K'NEX creation?
The K'NEX Sky Ride has been the most challenging. I started by building a mini sky ride, and then I built the big one. The towers kept falling over and it was hard to get the chain to stay on.

Do you have a favorite past K'NEXpert? If so, who?
Kyler who built the robot that shoots out ping pong balls a few years ago.

How many siblings do you have? What are their age(s) and gender(s)?
I have one brother named Ryan who is 12 years old. I also have a grown-up sister.

Do they build with K'NEX too? Do you build models together?
My brother isn't as interested in building with K'NEX as I am. Sometimes we play with Mario Kart race cars together or build 'golf ball machines' together.

What are your favorite hobbies (besides building with K'NEX)?
I like building with anything (Lego, Snap Circuits, etc.), but K'NEX is my favorite! I also like hiking and camping with the cub scouts, board games and Wii.

What is your favorite subject in school?
Art. I like making crafts and drawing.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a K'NEX designer or someone who writes the instructions for new K'NEX models. What is the coolest part about being a 2011 K'NEXpert?I love all of it! Getting new K'NEX sets, money for college, visiting the K'NEX headquarters and factory. I also really like being on the K'NEXpert panel and being sent new K'NEX models to build and sending my opinions and advice with the survey. What advice do you have for other kids who want to be K'NEXperts?Build big and strong models. Don't give up - when it doesn't work like you want, just take a break and try again later.
