Question and Answer:
Winning Model: Solomon's Solar System ModelI got the idea for my model after reading about the Solar System and thinking that it would be a good idea to use different K'NEX parts to display the Solar System. It took me about two hours to build the model using parts from my Micro K'NEX, K'NEX Bricks, Light-Ups and Gear Action. I attached a motor to make the planets revolve around the sun. The light-up rods around the Sun show how bright the Sun can be. I used my Micro K'NEX to build the Asteroid Belt and Earth's Moon. It was difficult finding a way to build the rings around Saturn and Uranus. I got the idea to use flexible rods for the rings. I used my K'NEX blocks to build a viewing platform complete with telescope. My K'NEX chain links made an escalator so that people could ride up to the viewing platform.
