From February 28 to March 8 2009, thousands of Ontario residents came together to celebrate National Engineering Month 2009 (NEM) at various locations across the province. Created in 1992 as National Engineering Week, Canada’s largest engineering volunteer run event was re-branded to National Engineering Month in 2008. NEM is designed to raise public awareness of the importance of engineering and engineering technology in our daily lives and to encourage young people to consider careers in engineering.
